The Foreigner

Set in a resort-style fishing lodge in rural Georgia, the comedy revolves around two of its guests, Charlie Baker and Englishman Staff Sergeant Froggy LeSueur. Charlie Baker, a painfully shy proofreader for a science fiction magazine in England leads a boring existence. To escape his current situation, his good friend and former army buddy, demolitions expert, SGT Froggy LeSueur, brings Charlie with him as his assistant while he presents a demonstration to the US Army. They settle in to the remote fishing lodge in rural Georgia run by Froggy’s good friend, Betty Meeks (my part). Charlie is so frightened by meeting and talking with people that everyone is told that Charlie is a foreigner who speaks no English. Instead of leaving him alone, everyone wants to be Charlie’s friend and the least likely person of all, tries to teach him English. Charlie soon becomes privy to deep secrets and overhears a nefarious plot to buy the inn for a price well below its value and becomes intricately involved in a counter plot to save the inn.

I played Betty Meeks.
